MUMBAI: A pickpocket's decision to clean up his act and lead a normal life cost him his life as he was stabbed to death by his brother-in-law for refusing to continue with the crime.
The Trombay police have arrested 35-year-old Anwar Shaikht. The deceased, Sarfaraz, a resident of Cheeta Camp in Trombay, is survived by his wife and two children.
According to police, Sarfaraz and Anwar were married to two sisters.
Both used to pick pockets on BEST buses and trains. "Both were recently released from jail in Pune, following which Sarfaraz decided to quit pickpocketing, but Anwar wasn't happy with the decision," said senior inspector Prakash Salvi.
