KALYAN: A young man’s idea to name his Wi-Fi log-in after a terror outfit has ended up teaching him a hard lesson. The 20-something youth from Kalyan had named his Wi-Fi ‘Lashkar-E- Taliban’, something that sent residents of his neighbourhood into a tizzy.
All hell broke loose at Amrut Heaven Complex in Khadakpada locality last Sunday when a resident, who was searching for Wi-Fi networks, stumbled upon the “shocking” name.
This resident quickly put out a message on the housing society’s social media group, alerting other residents. As word spread, so did the panic and soon a few residents called up the police.
The cops quickly swung into action. After a bit of legwork, they traced the youth from a building in the neighbourhood.
Senior inspector of Khadakpada police station, Balasaheb Kadam, said that the young man was summoned to the police station and questioned. “He told us that he had chosen that name ‘just for fun’,” said Kadam. A bit of dressing-down and some counselling followed. The youth was then allowed to go with a stern warning that he would quickly change the wi-fi name.
