NAVI MUMBAI: Mumbai and Navi Mumbai could breathe easy with
fresh breeze sweeping the
coastal land in the wake of
cyclone Vayu bringing in rain and lower temperatures.
The air quality index (AQI) Wednesday for the twin cities was "satisfactory", as per SAFAR study. Mumbai AQI was better in the early evening hours with the morning AQI at 73 dipping to 64, while Navi Mumbai it was the reverse –from 69 in the morning to 71 evening (4.00 pm).
Worlihad the best AQI at 40 , followed by
Borivali (49)-- in the 'good' quality category. Further away residents of
Kharghar and Taloja breathed easy in a long time. "Yes, today the air quality was very good and we felt fresh and rejuvenated,’’ said president of Swach Kharghar foundation, Mangal Kamble. The foundation threatened on Tuesday that it would be forced to take out morcha in protest against the continuing air pollution and foul odour from the industrial units in the chemical hub of Taloja.
