Navi Mumbai: Civil contractor shot in Ghansoli

A 40-year-old civil contractor was shot dead by an unidentified man on the road in Ghansoli on Thursday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Pravin Tayade, a resident of Talavali.

NAVI MUMBAI: A 40-year-old civil contractor was shot dead by an unidentified man on the road in Ghansoli near Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra on Thursday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Pravin Tayade, a resident of Talavali.
DCP (zone-1) Pankaj Dahane said, "Prima facie, the murder motive seems to be rivalry in construction material supply at the under-construction sites in Ghansoli and Talavali villages."
DCP (Crime) Pravin Patil said, "Tayade was riding a scooty with a pillion rider when a man came close to his scooter near Talavali bridge and fired from a pistol on his face, while the scooter was in motion.
Tayade was killed on the spot. As the scooter skid, the pillion rider sustained injuries. The assailant escaped in a car parked nearby, claimed Tayade's pillion rider, who is the sole eyewitness to the murder. He has also claimed that the assailant had shot at him as well, but he was not hit by the bullet. His statement has been recorded and crime branch team is conducting parallel probe."
