NAVI MUMBAI: City-based greens are upbeat after receiving a formal response from the
prime minister's office (
PMO) on Wednesday to their pleas on clearing mangroves for the proposed
bullet train project.
"We have received a reply from the PMO stating they will ask the relevant department to inquire into our plea about saving the mangroves and wetlands," said activist B N Kumar of The Nature Connect.
Mangroves equivalent to the size of five-and-a-half Azad Maidans are slated to be destroyed for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project, added Kumar.
