The suspected meteorite, weighing more than 13 kg and having magnetic properties, was kept at the museum last month at the directive of Nitish Kumar.
The three farmers, who were working in their nearby paddy field on July 22 afternoon, were left shaken when they heard an unusually loud thud. When they looked around to find out the source of the unusual sound, they spotted mild smoke coming out from a nearby paddy field. Reaching there, they found an object lying in a hole. They dug out the ground to find a meteorite-like object.

As the news about the fall of celestial object spread in the village like a wild fire, the villagers soon informed the Madhubani district magistrate (DM) Shirsat Kapil Ashok about the incident. The object was taken to the DM office next morning.
In turn, the DM informed the chief minister and state level officers about the fall of the celestial object. Later at the directive of the CM, the object was kept at the Bihar Museum.
Later, the CM, accompanied by officers, visited different galleries of the Museum and inquired about different objects and statues kept in the galleries. The advisor to CM and former chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh also accompanied him during the visit to museum.
