PATNA: The state headquarters of
BJP and JD(U) on Beer Chand Patel Marg here wore a deserted look as the results of assembly elections in five states started pouring in on Tuesday.
Senior BJP functionaries avoided visiting the party office as early trends showed Congress victory in two of the five states –
Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh – and a neck and neck fight between the grand old and saffron parties in
Madhya Pradesh.
A deserted look of JD[U] office in Patna on TuesdayBJP supporters too disappeared from the party office after the early trends on news channels indicated saffron party’s defeat.
The mood at JD(U)’s state headquarters was equally sombre, with hardly any party functionary present there to give bytes to the waiting mediapersons.
“Negative campaigns by Congress stopped people from voting in favour of the BJP. There is a feeling among the grassroots workers of the BJP that the party should address the issues faced by the common people, such as job, education and infrastructure,” said Sunil Sah, incharge of BJP’s Patna OBC wing
State BJP vice-president
Nitish Mishra said the party gave a tough fight to the Congress in Madhya Pradesh. “As far as Chhattisgarh is concerned, the anti-incumbency factor worked in favour of the Congress. In Rajasthan, the governments change every five years,” he added.
