Patna: BSF constable held for raping 26-year-old

PATNA: Police on Saturday arrested a BSF constable from Baikunthpur under the Khusrupur police station area in rural Patna on charges of raping a 26-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage at a hotel on Fraser Road here.
SHO of women’s police station Ravi Ranjana said the accused constable, Raj Kumar alias Chandan (27), who is posted in Indore, was arrested from his house at Baikunthpur in rural Patna.
The SHO said the girl had lodged a complaint with police on Friday night, accusing the constable of raping her in a hotel room. “The girl’s medical examination was conducted on Saturday and the report is awaited,” she said.
Ranjana said the girl had met the constable almost a year back at a marriage function in Patna. “The two later became friends and remained in touch through social media platforms,” she said.
The SHO added that on Friday, the constable took the girl to a hotel on Fraser Road and raped her there. “The accused had arrived at Patna four days back after taking leave. He was scheduled to return to Indore next week,” the SHO added.
