Eviction drive resumes, Rs 6L fine realized
PATNA: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials realized around Rs6 lakh fine as the district administration on Monday launched the second phase of anti-encroachment drive across the city. Illegal structures built on public land were razed to the ground.
The PMC officials and police conducted the drive at Mithapur, Antaghat, Bakarganj, Khetan Market, Khazanchi Road, B N College to NIT Mor, Bahadurpur Housing Colony, Bhootnath Road, Agamkuan, Gulzarbagh and Guru Govind Singh Road and removed illegal structures.

The first phase of anti-encroachment drive had started on August 16 and lasted till September 10. The second phase would last till October 4. However, the drive will be suspended on October 2 on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
In the New Capital Circle, the drive was conducted near Dayanand School at Mithapur and Antaghat. Altogether 50 structures built on government land were partly demolished.
In the Bankipore Circle, the drive was conducted near Patna Civil Court at Ashok Rajpath where 10 illegally built shops were removed. The chairs and tables kept by legal practitioners on the road outside the court were also removed.
In Kankerbagh Circle, the drive was conducted from Chiraiyatand ROB to Zero Mile. The authorities removed the tea stalls and huts built on the drainage. The Patna City Circle drive was conducted in Sitla Mandir area and under the Agamkuan ROB.
Total 547 permanent and 2,070 temporary illegal structures were demolished during the first phase of the anti-encroachment drive. FIRs were registered against 128 people while over Rs1 crore was realized from the squatters and those who had built illegal structures.
