PATNA: In view of the recent directives of the Railway Board, the East Central Railway (ECR) has become one of the few zones to introduce hand-held terminals (HHT) on the Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12309/12310).
According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, “All travelling ticket examiners (TTE) received HHTs on Friday to check tickets of passengers in no time and get instant information about cancellation of berths.
They do not need to carry printed reservation charts with them now.”
Sources claimed at least 500 TTEs of premier trains like Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Duronto Express had received HHTs so far. “The railways will ensure that they are available in all mail and express trains originating from different places of the ECR and other zonal railways by the end of January,” Kumar said.
Meanwhile, the ECR has created a record by maintaining punctuality of mail and express trains due to strict monitoring in October and November.
RPF personnel feted: ECR GM L C Trivedi awarded several RPF personnel at a function organized in Hajipur on Friday for their outstanding performances in the last two months. They helped the railways curb crimes on wheels, sources said.
