PATNA: A man in his 30s allegedly killed his parents following a dispute over the distribution of retiral benefits of his father at their home in Baichu Tola under the Bihta police station area in Patna district after Tuesday midnight.
Police said the deceased were identified as retired railway employee Munirka Rai and wife Shyam Sundari Devi. Munirka’s elder son Ramesh Rai lodged an FIR in this connection on Wednesday morning, naming brother Awadhesh Rai as the accused.

Bihta police station SHO Ranjit Kumar Singh told this reporter Munirka had recently received Rs 22 lakh from the railways. He had given Rs 8 lakh each to his two sons and kept Rs 6 lakh for his personal expenses.
“Awadhesh was demanding more money as Munirka used to spend money on Ramesh’s children because he lived with his elder son’s family,” the SHO said. Ramesh’s FIR said Awadhesh broke into the house around 12.30am on Tuesday-Wednesday night and shot their parents when they were asleep. “A manhunt has been launched to nab absconding Awadhesh.”
