Patna: Man, wife hacked to death by son-in-law, daughter injured

PATNA: In a gruesome incident, a mentally unstable son-in-law Waliullah Chand allegedly hacked to death elderly couple Chaudhary Irfan Raza (65) and his wife Farhat Jahan (60) with a knife after barging inside their rented flat on second floor of a three-storey private building at Langar Toli under Pirbahore police station area in state capital in broad day light on Friday.
Couple’s daughter cum killer’s wife Zainam Irfan Raza (22) was also injured in the incident but managed to survive by fleeing out after her parents caught hold of killer’s hands for few seconds.She had received deep cuts on face and limbs.
Chaudhary had retired as section officer from record section of Patna high court. Each of the body had more than dozen of stab wounds of face, neck and chest. The building is located at tri-junction of Langar Toli.
City SP (central) D Amarkesh, who had also reached the spot, said Waliullah managed to flee after killing.
“He is a native of Chakia at Motihari in East Champaran and is a law graduate but unemployed. He seems to be of mentally unstable nature," he said. Amarkesh said Waliullah and Zainam got married in 2017 but she was still to be sent off to husband’s residence.
"Last year, Waliullah had forcibly taken her to Chakia at knife’s point and kept thrashing her on entire way. No FIR was lodged in that connection,” he said adding police were investigating the murder from other angles too.
Zaiman, while being taken to hospital for treatment, told media persons that her husband was a mentally unstable and he had come with a motive to kill all three.
“Waliullah entered inside flat between 1pm to 2pm when all male person in building had went to offer namaz,” police said adding only Raza family and a woman on first floor were present that time.
Police sources said Waliullah armed with a knife attacked Zainam after which the couple came to her rescue.
“Zaiman fled to first floor where an elderly woman gave her shelter. Meanwhile, Waliullah stabbed to death Chaudhary and Farhat and fled,” sources said adding Farhat’s body was recovered lying inside bathroom in a pool of blood while Chaudhary’s body was recovered from bedroom.
