Patna: Piyush Goyal flags off Humsafar Express

PATNA: Union railway minister Piyush Goyal flagged off the new weekly Patna-Banaswadi (Bengaluru) Humsafar Express (22353/12354) through remote control at a function held at Sono village in Jamui district on Saturday. The train made its inaugural run from the Patna Junction at 11am and will reach Bengaluru on Monday.
“The Humsafar Express, which is equipped with modern facilities, will leave Banaswadi at 1.15pm every Sunday from March 10 and reach the Patna Junction at 12.45pm on Tuesday.
On its return journey, it will leave Patna at 8.15pm every Thursday and reach Banaswadi at 9pm on Saturday,” East Central Railway’s (ECR) chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar said and added the train would run with a load combination of 18 coaches.
The weekly train has stoppages at Ara, Buxar, Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, Prayagraj, Satna, Katni, Jabalpur, Pipariya, Itarsi, Betul, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Balharshah, Warangal, Vijayawada, Gudur, Renigunta, Katapady, Jolarpettai and Krishnarajapuram.
The Union minister also laid the foundation for construction of new lines between Jhajha and Batia in Jamui district, which falls under the jurisdiction of the ECR.
“To be constructed at a cost of Rs 496.37 crore, the 20km-long proposed new lines will provide direct connectivity between Patna and Howrah,” Kumar said.
Goyal also announced that trains like the Howrah-Raxaul Mithila Express, Raxaul-Hyderabad Express and Bhagalpur-Ranchi Express will stop at Jamui, Sheikhpura and Jhajha, respectively from Sunday. “Besides, the Patna-Dhanbad Intercity will stop at Simultala from Monday,” the CPRO said.
