Motive behind suicide inside hotel Maurya yet not clear: Patna Police
PATNA: Patna police is yet to ascertain reason behind alleged suicide of one Amit Kumar (34) whose body was found hanging from ceiling fan by a nylon rope inside a room at Hotel Maurya in city on Friday night.
Town DSP Suresh Kumar on Saturday said a suicide note was found from the room in which Amit’s body was recovered but even in that no clear reason for taking such an extreme step was mentioned.

“Police have not been able to ascertain exact reason behind suicide. Several family members and friends of deceased have been quizzed till now but they have not been able to cite concrete reason behind the incident,” he said.
He said that in the one page suicide note, Amit had written that none should be held responsible for his step and he was committing suicide so that his wife and child live a better live onwards. The DSP said Amit got married in 2005 and had a six year old son.
He said Amit had checked into room number 217 of hotel on Thursday and after hotel employees did not observed any movement inside the room on Friday, they opened it using master key following which Amit’s body was found hanging. The deceased was resident of Mahesh Nagar in Patliputra Colony.
The DSP said that family members have suspected foul play and had requested for post mortem by a board of doctors citing that Amit was a very strong person and he could not take such a step.

“Police have written to concerned authorities for post mortem by a board at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH),” the DSP said. In reply to query, DSP Kumar said that post mortem would be conducted on Saturday.
“Family members told police on Saturday that Amit was working a sales manager for a battery manufacturing firm and was earning Rs 18 lakh per annum. These things need to be verified with the firm,” he said.
The DSP said Amit had even met a friend outside the hotel on Thursday evening and had told him that he was at the hotel for a company meeting.
