MPs urge railways to improve amenities at various stations, expedite projects
PATNA: Seven MPs from state attended the annual divisional parliamentary committee meeting of the Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) on Monday and gave several suggestions to improve passenger amenities at various railway stations under the division.
The MPs – Ram Kripal Yadav (Pataliputra), Shatrughan Sinha (Patna Saheb), Ashwini Kumar Choubey (Buxar), Arun Kumar (Jehanabad), Kaushlendra Kumar (Nalanda), Bashishtha Narain Singh (Rajya Sabha) and Dr C P Thakur (Rajya Sabha) – listed several development plans for inclusion in railway budget that is now merged with the Union Budget.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Dr C P Thakur, was also attended by ECR GM L C Trivedi and senior railway officials of the Danapur division, including DRM Ranjan Prakash Thakur.
Ram Kripal stressed on the need for completion of Bihta-Aurangabad new line project work soon so that passenger train services could be started on the route. He also called for construction of more road over bridges (ROBs) and foot over bridges (FOBs) at various stations under the division. Yadav said all mail and express trains should be given stoppages at Danapur station.
Patna Saheb MP Shatrughan Sinha said railways should provide separate mother feeding rooms at Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal. “Passenger amenities should be improved at Bakhtiarpur, Fatuha, Karauta, Daniyawan and Khusrupur railway stations,” he said.
Jehanabad MP Arun Kumar called for immediate construction of one more ROB near Jehanabad station. Union minister of state for health and family welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey demanded more passenger amenities and construction of a new ROB at Buxar station.

Nalanda MP Kaushlendra Kumar demanded introduction of more passenger trains between Daniyawan and Biharsharif to cater to the needs of common people. He also demanded extension of a few passenger trains running on Daniyawan-Biharsharif route up to Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Patna Junction.
Rajya Sabha MP Bashishtha Narain Singh demanded installation of a ‘litti-chokha’ stall at Koelwar station.
ECR GM Trivedi welcomed the guests and dwelt at length upon various steps taken to improve passenger amenities at various stations under the division.
