New office-bearers of PU students’ union take oath
Mohit Prakash takes oath as PUSU president on Saturday
PATNA: Patna University (PU) vice-chancellor (VC) Rash Bihari Prasad Singh administered the oath of office to the newly elected office-bearers and council members of the Patna University Students’ Union (PUSU) at a function organized at Wheeler Senate House on Saturday. PUSU polls were held on December 5 and results announced in the wee hours of December 6.
While Mohit Prakash took oath as PUSU president, Anjana Singh was sworn in as vice-president, Manikant Mani as general secretary, Raja Ravi as joint secretary and Kumar Satyam as treasurer.

Those elected to the PUSU general council from different constituencies were also administered the oath on the occasion. They include Akanksha Verma, Zulekha Kalam, Priyanka Srivastava, Simran Mandal (Patna Women’s College), Prem Pratigya (College of Arts and Crafts), Prachi and Manoranjan Kumar Raja (Patna College), Abhinav Kumar (Vanijya Mahavidyalaya), Hanshika Dayal (Patna Law College), Pragati Chauhan, Khushboo, Agrima Raj and Anam Imam (Magadh Mahila College), Priya Ranjan Kumar and Roshan Kumar Raja (B N College), Vikky Kumar and Parmeshwar Raj (Patna Science College), Shivam (faculty of science), Shashi Gunjan and Niraj Yadav (faculty of social science) and Rizwan (faculty of humanities). The council members elected from Patna Training College, Women’s Training College and the faculties of commerce, education and law did not turn up at the oath-taking ceremony.
Addressing the newly elected representatives, the VC expressed the hope that the PU students’ union would set a standard for students of other universities in the state and the country. He said they would work for the betterment of the university and extend their full cooperation in achieving academic excellence. The university would take all necessary steps for redressal of grievances and provision of all the basic amenities, he added.
PU pro-VC Dolly Sinha, students’ welfare dean N K Jha, chief election officer Khagendra Kumar, election committee adviser R S Arya, proctor G K Palei, registrar Manoj Mishra and a sizeable number of teachers and students attended the function.
The oath-taking ceremony passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported on the campus. The university had made elaborate security arrangements at the venue.
