PATNA: The high court-mandated traffic revamp in city is getting into high gear with the no-parking zones identified by the administration to be implemented in Patna from today. Altogether 91 spots across the city have been designated as no-parking zones.
“No-parking system will be enforced at the places earmarked for the same from Saturday,” Patna DM Kumar Ravi confirmed on Friday.

Some of the places where no-parking will be implemented include, Ashiana Mor, Rajiv Nagar railway crossing, Anisabad intersection, Govind Mitra Road, Jagdeo Path, Kurji Mor and Rajendra Nagar Terminal, among others.
Senior officials said people found parking vehicles in the no-parking areas will be fined and their vehicles towed away. Officials also claimed that close-circuit-television (CCTV) cameras will also be installed at these spots at a later stage.
Sources said the no-parking system is being implemented as part of a series of measures being taken following directives from the Patna High Court issued during the hearing of a PIL last month.
Apart from enforcing the no-parking zones, the city will also witness rolling out of a smart-parking system at 76 locations across the city over the next few weeks. Out of the 76 places identified as smart-parking zones, 74 are new sites that are under construction, while the remaining two are old parking lots.

Work is being carried out by the Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) at 74 proposed smart-parking zones such as at Bank of Baroda, Kankarbagh, Patna Women’s College, Nala Road petrol pump, Sheikhpura Mor and Bans Ghat among other areas.
According to PSCL officials, smart parking zones are ready for inauguration at 17 places in the city. “Parking fee will be charged at these places as soon as the facility is commenced. Parking in-charge will be given a point of sale (POS) machine for collection of parking fee. Under the proposed fee structure, two-wheelers and four-wheelers will have to pay Rs10 and Rs20 for the first two hours respectively after which they will be charged the respective rates for every extra hour,” a senior PSCL official said.
“Smart parking zones are proposed to be constructed on both sides of the roads along flyovers, including the Bailey Road flyover,” a PSCL officer said.
Sources also said smart parking zones are proposed to be equipped with CCTV cameras and decorated with murals and paintings.
