Patna: Government doctor’s son brutally murdered by friends

PATNA: In a shocking incident, a government homeopathic doctor’s 15-year-old son Satyam Kumar was killed by his friends after stabbing him nearly 40 times in Patna.
Satyam’s body was recovered by police from an empty ground filled with at least six feet high wild grasses located just behind RPS Engineering College near Gola Road under Rupaspur police station area in the city on Saturday afternoon.
Satyam’s father Shashi Bhushan Gupta had lodged a missing person's complaint with Rupaspur police station at around 10pm on Thursday after his son did not return home at Aparna Colony from coaching at Danapur.
Later the family received ransom call of Rs 50 lakh on Friday morning after which a kidnapping case was lodged. The family lives at a flat in Aparna Colony.
Satyam’s friend Neeraj Kumar and Pramod Kumar, both aged around 20 years, were arrested from village Kothwa under Khagaul police station in Patna on Friday evening.
It was on duo’s confession that Satyam's body was recovered. Neeraj studies at RPS Engineering College while Pramod is a student of another private school.
Another suspect Ajeet Kumar Devraj alias Chakia was evading arrest. They had made ransom call to Saytam’s family using his cellphone to cover his murder.
Police sources said Satyam’s body seems to bore around 40 stabbing marks.
“His throat was slit and one of the eyes were gouged. One of the daggers used in killing was left inserted on right side of his waist while another dagger was lying in between his legs,” police sources said, adding it was a pre-planned murder.
When asked, City SP (West) Ravindra Kumar said that several stabbing marks were present on Satyam’s body and one of the daggers used in killing was left inserted in his waist.
He said arrested youths were constantly changing their statements on reason behind the killing.
“Neeraj had rang Satyam and called him from Gola Road on Thursday. Satyam reached there from his coaching located at Danapur around 4.30 pm after which they took him inside the empty ground and stabbed him to death,” the SP said, adding, Neeraj had stabbed Satyam maximum times.
He said Neeraj, Pramod and Ajeet killed Satyam within a few hours of meeting him.
Quoting Neeraj’s statement, SP said Satyam used to come to Kothwa for a girl whom he did not like and thus killed him.
“Satyam was given ganja to smoke by the trio before being stabbed. To cover-up the murder, the trio made ransom call of Rs 50 lakh from Satyam’s cellphone to his family members at 8am on Friday,” Kumar said.
He said Neeraj and Pramod are relatives of notorious MLC Ritlal Yadav but his involvement has not surfaced in the case.
Ajeet, his father Ganesh and Neeraj’s father Sravan had several criminal cases lodged against them including that of murder.
“Ganesh and Sravan had even worked for Ritlal too in the past,” he said.
Following the incident, Patna zonal IG Nayyar Hasnain Khan suspended Rupaspur SHO Deepak Kumar on Saturday.
