PATNA: With Eid almost a week away, huge rush of customers is being witnessed at Patna Market — one of the city’s most popular shopping hubs.
Women and young girls are spoilt for choice as Patna Market shops offer a wide variety of dress materials, bangles, shoes and accessories.
“Eid shopping is incomplete without visiting Patna Market. As a kid, I would come here with my mother, sister and friends,” 23-year-old said Rabiya Fatima told this newspaper.
One of Rabiya’s friends, Shibbu Anwar, who accompanied the 23-year-old to Patna Market on Monday, said in an excited tone, “We are done with our dresses.
Now, we are buying earrings.”
Despite the mall culture catching up in the city, Patna Market continues to be the first choice of Eid shoppers. “There are online options as well, but I buy traditional clothes from Patna Market,” schoolteacher Mehwish Fatima said.
Mohammad Parwez, who has been running a shop in Patna Market since 1974, leaves no stone unturned to make his customers happy. He said, “I give them what they ask for. Embroidered ‘kurtis’, ‘shararas’ and ‘ghararas’ are in demand among young girls.”
Another shopkeeper Gaurav said ‘shararas’ and ‘ghararas’ were available in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000, depending on fabric and embroidery.
