Patna: Police arrest man after wife found dead under mysterious circumstances

PATNA: Police arrested one Manish Kumar (30) after his wife was found dead in mysterious circumstances inside from his residence at Shivpuri under Shashtri Nagar police station area in in Patna on Thursday. The couple had got married in 2017.
Shashtri Nagar police station SHO Vimlendu said that the slain woman was identified as Anita Devi, aged around 25 years, who was originally native of Naubatpur in western Patna.
He said that an FIR for dowry death was lodged against Manish and his parents on basis of the statement recorded by slain woman’s father Mangleshwar Kumar Rai before police.
SHO said that reached Shivpuri on wee hours of Thursday after someone informed him that her daughter’s condition was not good.
"After reaching from Naubatpur, Rai found her daughter lying dead inside a room where she lived with her husband and in-laws. A ligature mark was present around the neck creating strong suspicion that she might had been strangulated to death," SHO said.
Vimlendu also said that the father had alleged that Anita was continuously pressurised by her husband and in-laws for a sports bike and around Rs 5 lakh and was tortured continuously for it and was killed for the same reason.
SHO said both got married less than three years back and had a one and half year old girl child too from the wedlock. "The body was handed over to Rai after post-mortem and further investigation were going on in connection with the case," SHO said.
