RJD slams Sushil Modi for using CPA India summit as 'political platform'

RJD slams Sushil Modi for using CPA India summit as 'political platform'
Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav
PATNA: RJD on Saturday slammed Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi for using the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s (CPA) India Region conference as “political platform” and asked why he did not speak about the multi-crore Srijan scam while he was referring to the jailing of four former chief ministers in corruption cases.
“Why did Sushil Modi not speak about his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Srijan scam and naming of CM Nitish Kumar in a case of murder when he (Modi) was referring to imprisonment of four former CMs in different corruption cases?” Leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav asked.

Yadav also said if Sushil Modi was so concerned about corruption why he did not tell the audience about a series of scams broke out in Bihar during the current JD(U)-BJP rule. He said Sushil Modi should apologise for misusing the CPA forum.
Earlier in the day, Sushil Modi while addressing inaugural session of the CPA conference at Gyan Bhawan here said, “The country is facing a situation, wherein as many as four former CMs are behind the bars in corruption cases,” triggering an instant protest from the RJD members attending the conference.
The RJD members became angry over Sushil Modi’s statement believing that the deputy CM was trying to insult them by referring to the cases of four former CMs. One of the four former CM is RJD chief Lalu Prasad who is currently lodged in a Ranchi jail in cases related to fodder scam.
RJD’s national vice-president and former MP Shivanand Tiwari too criticised Sushil Modi for demonstrating “low-level behaviour” at the CPA meet.
“Sushil Modi is solely responsible for whatever happened at the CPA’s inaugural ceremony. He deliberately used that language to provoke the RJD members. Sushil Modi should apologise to public,” Tiwari said adding the RJD members followed their political ‘dharma’ by protesting the objectionable statement of Modi.

Tejashwi was invited to address the inaugural session of CPA conference but he skipped the conference on the plea that he would prefer to visit Piro in Bhojpur district to console the family members of Mujahid Khan, a CRPF constable who was killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this week.
“Delegates attending the CPA conference are welcome to the holy land of Bihar. I was excited about the event, but in respect to the public sentiment toward martyr Mujahid Khan, I am leaving for Bhojpur. People are dismayed over the state government's apathy towards the slain CRPF man, whose last rites was not attended even by the DM and SP, and about whom a minister has given a shameful statement which has evoked no reaction from the CM and the Deputy CM,” Tejashwi said in a statement issued this morning.
Tejashwi later in the afternoon visited Mujahid’s native village in Bhojpur district and met his family members and villagers.
