Two people, including a retired Patna University teacher Dr Lal Narayan Sharma (78), died after a car rammed into a roundabout at Rajendra Nagar under Kankerbagh police station area in the city on Tuesday.

PATNA: Two people, including a retired Patna University teacher Dr Lal Narayan Sharma (78), died after a car rammed into a roundabout at Rajendra Nagar under Kankerbagh police station area in the city on Tuesday.
Dr Sharma, who was travelling in the car and Tunnu Sharma (40), an autorickshaw driver who was hit by the car while crossing the road, died in the accident.
The driver of the car, Raghunath Singh (60), is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
SHO of Kankerbagh police station Ashok Kumar Gupta said the car rammed into the roundabout after hitting Tunnu. “The three were rushed to different hospitals where Dr Sharma and Tunnu succumbed to their injuries,” the SHO added.
He said an FIR was lodged against the car driver for reckless driving on the basis of a written complaint filed by Tunnu’s brother Laxman Sharma with the Traffic police station at Gandhi Maidan.
SHO of Traffic police station Arun Kumar said Tunnu died at Patna Medical College and Hospital around 3pm.
“The deceased teacher’s family members had taken the body to his house at Lal Kothi under Kankerbagh police station area. A police team later visited the teacher’s residence and took his body to PMCH for post mortem,” he said, adding the bodies of the two victims were later handed over to their family members.
Kumar said Tunnu was a resident of road number 15 at Kankerbagh Baghicha under Patrakar Nagar police station area in the city.
