According to ECR’s public relations officer (PRO) R K Singh, the step has been taken because of non-interlocking (NI) work to be carried out on the Varanasi-Allahabad section, which falls under the North Central Railway (NCR).

“The railways will divert the Lokmanya Tilak-Ranchi Express (18609/18610), Patna-Ernakulam Express (16359/16360), Danapur-Udhna Express (19063/19064), Dhanbad-Kolhapur Express (11045/11046), Patna-Ahmedabad Express (19421) and Danapur-Secunderabad Express (12791/12792) via the Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Junction-Cheoki-Allahabad route,” Singh told this newspaper on Friday, adding the Howrah-Allahabad Vibhuti Express (12333/12334) would be short-terminated at Manduadih during the period.
Besides, the Darbhanga-New Delhi Swatantrata Senani Express (12562) and the Darbhanga-Lokmanya Tilak Pawan Express (11061) will be diverted via the Allahabad-Janghai-Varanasi route. The Sitamarhi-Anand Vihar Lichchavi Express (14005/14006), on the other hand, will be diverted via the Allahabad-Jaunpur-Aunrihar route from August 24 to September 6.
Train cancelled: The railways has cancelled a pair of passenger trains and rescheduled the departure of some due to NI work being carried out at Sheikhpura station under the Danapur division of the ECR till August 29.
“The Gaya-Kiul passenger (53626/53629) has been cancelled and the Jamalpur-Gaya passenger (53615) rescheduled at 10.15am from Jamalpur. The Barauni-Sitamarhi special (07010) has been rescheduled at 8.10am from Barauni,” ECR’s PRO R K Singh said.
