Two held after robbing man near Patna Junction

PATNA: Two criminals were nabbed near Patna Junction roundabout after they hurled a crude bomb on the policemen after robbing a train passenger of his cellphone and money around 3am on Wednesday.
Though police claimed the criminals were nabbed before hurling bomb, locals said it failed to explode.
Those arrested were identified as Golu Kumar (19) and Raju Kumar (25).
Their associate Vinod Kumar managed to escape. One loaded country-made pistol and one live crude bomb was seized from their possession.
Police said Raju and Vinod live in Lohanipur slums under the Kadamkuan police station area. While Raju sells vegetables, Vinod drives an autorickshaw. But at night, they target and rob passengers coming out or going to the railway station. They said Golu had come from Begusarai.
Kotwali SHO Ramashankar Singh said one Praveen Kumar (22) was going to board a train for Biharsharif in Nalanda from Patna Junction when the three criminals robbed him of his cellphone and money at gunpoint.
“On being informed by Praveen, the police patrolling team near Patna Junction reached the spot and spotted the criminals, who tried to run away. Two of the criminals were chased by constables Mukesh Kumar and Abhay Kumar Chaudhary and caught in a nearby lane which was closed,” Singh said.

He also said Praveen’s cellphone and money were recovered from the arrested criminals.
Constable Abhay told TOI the trio had been chased by police three days back near Hardinge Park while trying to snatch valuables from a commuter, but they had managed to flee by crossing the railway tracks.
Police said Raju also manufactures crude bombs and one of the fingers in his left hand had got blown up in the process. They said the three criminals were accused in several other cases.
