Woman shot dead in Biharsharif near Patna

BIHARSHARIF: Amid Holi celebrations a pall of gloom descended on the family of Vijendra Prasad at Basodih village under Ben police station area on Thursday when miscreants shot dead his wife Rinku Devi.
According to village sources some villagers had tried to prevent the deceased woman from using a piece of land for Holika Dahan on Wednesday night which she refused to oblige and following which there was an altercation between two groups .

They said that on Thursday some miscreants fired several rounds and one of the bullets hit the Vijendra Prasad's wife Rinku Devi when she was celebrating the festival with her family. She died before being taken to the hospital.
A police officer at Ben police station said that an investigation was underway .
Meanwhile an 18-year-old youth identified as Prem Kumar, a resident of Patel Nagar locality under Laheri police station area in Biharsharif was drowned in a nearby pond on Thursday. According to police sources the deceased youth after playing mud Holi with his friends on Thursday went to a nearby pond to take bath and incidentally slipped into deep water and drowned.
The police detained at least four persons for interrogation after miscreants attacked houses of Dalit families at Bramhasthan locality under Laheri police station area in Biharsharif in the wee hours on Thursday. A police officer said some miscreants damaged doors of some houses of Dalit families and scolded them in the wee hours on Thursday. When they raised alarm the miscreants fled. He said some persons were detained for interrogation.
