Pondicherry university to admit MBA students on basis of CAT score
PUDUCHERRY: Pondicherry University will admit students into its various MBA programmes based on their scores in the common admission test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) from the next academic year 2019-20.
Pondicherry University has been admitting students into MBA programmes based on their performance in the entrance tests conducted by the university for the past few years.

CAT conducted by IIM is a well-recognized examination conducted in 147 centres across India. The culturally-diverse larger pool of applicants across India enhances the MBA education experience and improves the placement potential.
The students aspiring to join MBA programme in Pondicherry University must appear for the IIM-CAT scheduled on November 25 this year.
IIM has commenced registration for CAT from August 8. The registration will close at 5pm on September 19 this year. The candidates can refer CAT 2018 bulletin, which can be accessed online, for more details. The results of CAT will be tentatively announced in January 2019.
The candidates must download the results and their CAT score-card after the announcement of the results and apply online for admission into MBA programmes in the university offered by the department of management studies after the university opens admission (tentatively scheduled in mid-January 2019) for the next academic year.

The university will shortlist candidates based on their CAT scores and invite them to appear for selection. The selection process will include a group discussion followed by a personal interview tentatively scheduled in the third week of March 2019.

The department of management studies was the first academic unit established in 1986 in the university. University vice-chancellor Gurmeet Singh made an announcement on the new admission procedure during the alumni meet of the department of management students on Thursday. Two of its eminent alumni Baskar Babu, founder of Suryoday Micro Finance and Hemant Srivatsa, who runs Chennai’s oldest auction house Murray & Co. attended the meet. Suryoday Micro Finance is among the 10 companies and the only one from Maharashtra to obtain a ’Small Finance Bank’ licence from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
