PUDUCHERRY: The Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) will hold mop-up counselling to fill vacant MBBS seats in the government-run college and two private colleges under government and management quotas on August 21 at its office in Pondicherry engineering college campus.
The committee will hold the counselling for the MBBS seats under government quota for all the Puducherry candidates from 9.30am onwards on August 21.
It will hold counselling for the seats under management quota on all India basis for all the candidates, who had registered with it, from 10.30am onwards on the same day.
The committee will hold the counselling in sessions. It will allow reservation and will call all candidates in the respective category in the first session. Thereafter, it will convert the unfilled seats into unreserved seats and will allot the seats as per merit. The candidates must produce National eligibility cum entrance test (Neet) scorecard and documents to prove the reservation claimed.
The candidates, who have joined MBBS courses, can also participate in the counselling. The committee will allot seats to the shortlisted candidates only after they pay the fees as mop-up counselling will be the last round of counselling.
The candidates can present demand drafts drawn in favour of ‘Convener, Centac’ for the fee amount or transfer the amount online using the payment gateway on the committee website. The fees for the government quota seats in Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences and Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital had been fixed at Rs 3.8 lakh per annum and in Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College and Research Institute at Rs 3.29 lakh per annum. The fees for management quota had been fixed at Rs 16 lakh per annum.

The candidates can also pay the fee in advance. If a shortlisted candidate fails to join and if the colleges could not fill the seat, then the fee paid during the mop-up counselling will be forfeited. If the college fills the seat, then Rs 1 lakh will be forfeited and the remaining amount will be refunded after six months to the candidate.
If the candidates, who paid the fees in advance, but failed to secure a seat, the fees paid by them will be refunded within one week. “Therefore, it is advised that the candidates make a considerate decision before taking the sear in mop-up counselling,” said a statement from the committee.
The committee will publish the revised seat matrix by 11am on August 18. “The candidates are requested to evaluate their chances based on the vacancies and Centac will not be responsible for not calling anyone for counselling,” added the release.
The committee will sponsor the list of interested candidates to the colleges against the incidental vacancies that arise after the mop-up counselling in the ratio of 1:10. i.e. if there are five vacancies, the committee will sponsor a list of 50 candidates in the order of merit.
The candidates must express their willingness for including them in the 1:10 list to be sponsored to the colleges after the mop-up counselling. The committee will exclude the candidates, who join the courses, from the 1:10 list. The committee will not sponsor the candidates who have not expressed their willingness.
