Waiter by day, vehicle thief by night, West Bengal man arrested in Pune

Nigdi police have recently arrested a 21-year-old man and recovered 13 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 10.90 lakh from him. The suspect had stolen these motorcycles from Nigdi, Hinjewadi, Wakad, Sangvi and Deccan area.

PUNE: Nigdi police have recently arrested a 21-year-old man and recovered 13 stolen motorcycles worth Rs 10.90 lakh from him. The suspect had stolen these motorcycles from Nigdi, Hinjewadi, Wakad, Sangvi and Deccan area.
The suspect Buddhadeb Biswas currently residing at Akurdi hails from West Bengal worked as waiter in few restaurants in Pimpri Chinchwad area.
“To earn easy money and also for joy rides, Biswas started stealing two-wheelers,” senior inspector of teh Nigdi police Sunil Tonape told TOI.
Assistant inspector of the Nigdi police Laxman Sonwane told TOI that on November 12, police constable Ramesh Mavaskar received a tip-off that one person driving a motorcycle in a suspicious manner and would be coming at Thermax Chowk. “We laid a trap and took the person into custody. He identified himself as Biswas and told us that he was working as a waiter in a nearby restaurant,” Sonawan said.
When Biswas failed to furnish the documents of the motorcycle he was driving, the police took him to the police station. During the sustained questioning, Biswas admitted that the latter had stolen the motorcycle from Nigdi area. “Biswas also admitted his involvement in the theft of more motorcycles,” Sonwane said.
