RAIPUR: The “sex CD case” triggered a political firestorm on Monday, barely eight weeks before assembly polls, with the CBI filing a chargesheet against Congress state chief Bhupesh Baghel who refused to seek bail and walked into jail.
Baghel, charged with circulating a fake CD, refused to engage a lawyer, saying: “I am innocent. The government is implicating me after the black flag demonstration.” He was referring to the Congress black-flag demonstration during PM Modi’s visit to Chhattisgarh on September 22.
Baghel, who has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a special CBI court, said he would start a “satyagraha” in prison. Congress has announced a “jail bharo” agitation from Tuesday.
