RAIPUR: S mart City's state-of-the-art Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) will expand its monitoring services to residential colonies.
For this, the feed of pre-installed CCTV cameras in residential colonies will be connected with the ITMS control room to keep a check on anti-social activities during night time. In an inspection meeting of Smart City projects, mayor Pramod Dubey directed officials to make better use of the ITMS systems which was set up in the city for the monitoring and effective management of traffic.
The mayor directed officials to connect the CCTV cameras of residential colonies with the ITMS control room, so that immediate police assistance can be sent in case of emergency.
Residents' sense of safety will also improve, he said.
Engineers of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) will begin work to figure out the viability of connecting CCTV with ITMS control room. For this, the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will be contacted to coordinate the technical upgrade of the security facility their colonies.
In addition, during the meet, the mayor also reviewed the bioremediation project of 39 ponds and lakes in the city with collaboration of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and National Environment and Research Institute.
The project is focused on reinstating the natural ecosystem of the water bodies - by making quality of water adequate to support life, removal of harmful aquatic weed, increase depth of the water body, reduce nutrient elements which are harmful for aquatic life, plantation of trees around the area to reverse erosion, natural air purification, among others.
