RAIPUR: City’s business community has demanded the Congress government to remove e-way bill and implement one tax slab for sectors including clothing, stationary and cycle.
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) submitted a memorandum to cabinet minister T S Singhdeo, demanding to make amendments in GST structure. CAIT requested complete withdrawal of mandatory e-way bill which is required on 15 commodities for trading within the state.
“Increase the turnover of Rs20 lakhs to Rs40 lakhs required for GST registration and cancel the mandatory GST registration for smaller businessmen, as such small traders run their business in limited resources,” the memorandum says.

Paints and colours are used by economically weaker section of society, the current 18 per cent hiked GST on these products should be slashed, it reads. On the condition of sale of pre-owned vehicles the traders raised suggestion that it must be taxed at 5 per cent. “Two-wheelers are used by middle-class people, so the GST on these vehicles should be reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. Industry of cycle, tricycle, cycle rickshaws and parts are facing a lot of tax filing hurdles as they are applicable for all four tax slabs of the GST. GST must be reduced to the lowest amount on the farming equipment such as motor pump set, power cable, pipes and other products, which holds GST rate of 12 per cent,” the memorandum reads.
CAIT demanded extension for filing trans-1 and trans-2 since many businessmen missed the date owing to lack of information of dates and provisions and completely annul the reversed charge on purchase from unregistered person.
