Chhattisgarh: BJP leading in 9 out of 11 Lok Sabha constituencies

RAIPUR: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) candidates have established lead in nine out of eleven constituencies in Chhattisgarh even as the ruling Congress is leading in two constituencies after two and half hours of counting.
Ruling Congress is leading in two constituencies, including Bastar and Mahasamund, while BJP candidates are leading in nine constituencies, including Bilaspur, Durg, Janjgir-Champa, Kanker, Korba, Raigarh, Raipur, Rajnandgaon and Sarguja.

While BJP had denied ticket to all its sitting MPs fielding all new faces, Congress hope to leverage its gains in the Assembly elections, in which it has won 68 out of 90 seats, and wrest power from BJP.
The leading Congress candidates from Bastar and Mahasamund are Deepak Baij and Dhanendra Sahu while BJP candidates from includes Arun Sao from Bilaspur, Vijay Baghel from Durg, Guharam Ajgalley from Janjgir-Champa and others.
