Chhattisgarh BJP must spell out names of ‘urban Naxals’: Bhupesh Baghel
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel
RAIPUR: Countering Bharatiya Janata Party’s allegations that the Congress government is either ‘soft’ on Maoists or ‘urban Naxals’ have infiltrated into the system and influencing government decisions, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said, former chief minister Raman Singh should make public the names of those ‘urban Naxals’ to prove the claims right.
“Raman Singh should make the names of so-called urban Naxals public and prove all his claims right.
If at all, Raman Singh knew that there were urban Naxals infiltrating the system, why didn’t he take action during 15 years of his rule in state?” he said reacting to state BJP executive’s political resolution passed on Sunday.
“Why did Raman Singh government fail to investigate the case of former Rajnandgaon SP VK Choubey, who exposed the urban Maoists network and was later killed in Maoist attack? Nearly 29 jawans were killed in the incident. This can only be Raman’s style of functioning in dealing with such cases, not of the Congress,” Baghel added.
BJP state executive, who met here on Sunday, adopted a political resolution criticising the Bhupesh Baghel government alleging that an atmosphere of anarchy and insecurity is prevailing in the state. “BJP’s lone legislator from Bastar Bhima Mandavi was killed in a Maoist attack,” the resolution said.
Reacting to the remarks, Baghel said that since the Congress government has come to power, Chhattisgarh has witnessed wave of change and improvement in all sectors but “they” can’t see the change as “they” were only involved in corruption throughout their rule in state.
“Raman Singh distributed lakhs of mobile and lakhs of them are still in stock and we have no idea what to do with them, moreover, the huge Skywalk in the middle of city too has become a trouble for everyone. What an irony it is that the former chief minister Raman Singh’s region Rajnandgaon is included in the list of ‘aspirational districts’,” Baghel said.
The BJP on Sunday claimed that an emergency like situation is prevailing in the state and people fear the government. The resolution said power supply has been erratic in many parts of the state this summer. “People took to social media to express their resentment against power cuts. One of them was picked up and sent to jail,” the resolution said.
