Chhattisgarh minister performs puja inside polling booth, gets EC notice
RAIPUR: Election Commission has sent a notice to BJP MLA and Chhattisgarh tourism minister Dayaldas Baghel for performing puja at a polling station in Nawagarh, from where he is seeking re-election. The Nawagarh MLA burnt incense sticks and also broke a coconut after touching it on the table where EVM machine was kept.
“The incident has come to our notice. The returning officer concerned has been directed to issue a notice to BJP candidate.
The Election Commission would take an appropriate action after receipt of his reply”, state’s chief electoral officer Subrat Sahoo told reporters on Wednesday.
BJP candidate Dayaldas Baghel is contesting from Nawagarh (SC) constituency in Bemetara district where he is pitted against Congress candidate Guru Dayal Singh Banjare.
