RAIPUR: For the first time, Chhattisgarh police now have its own state police insignia badge and cops will be seen wearing it on their uniform sleeves.
The state home department has approved in principle a proposal for all personnel in police department to wear badges with state police formation sign with the uniform.
The proposed badge depicts the state's speciality and diversity in the badge shaped as armour with symbols inscribed on it prominently state’s unique bison horns Ashok chakra, with rays of sun that displays progressive approach and 'Pavitranay Sadhunam' that signifies state police's goal mantra and reminds each about their prime duty.

The year 2000 is also inscribed on the badge as the state police was formed the same year with its foundation. With the national emblem and Chhattisgarh police inscribed on the badge, below it is 'Satyamev Jayate' written.
“Like in many other states, now Chhattisgarh too would have its own insignia badge. Police personnel will wear it on their sleeves”, Director General of Police Durgesh Madhav Awasthi confirmed saying that now the order has been issued, the badges will soon be introduced in police department.
Special Director General R K Vij had submitted a proposal to the state home department, pointing out that all police officers used to wear insignia with their uniforms until Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in the year 2000. However, the practice came to a halt after the new state came into existence.
