Chhattisgarh reports its 3rd Covid-19 death , state records highest single day surge of 127 patients

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh reported its third Covid-19 death on late Friday night and recorded highest single day surge with 127 patients reported across the state. This has increased the tally to 900 with active cases 661 in Chhattisgarh. The third Covid-19 death was reported of a 19-year-old cancer patient, who was on ventilator support in AIIMS Raipur.
The third death was confirmed by AIIMS administration on Saturday.
As per AIIMS-R administration, a 19-year-old woman was shifted to AIIMS on June 1 from a private hospital after being found positive for noval coronavirus. She had Leukemia- a cancer of blood-forming tissues, hindering the body's ability to fight infection. Despite all the effort her condition started to deteriorate and she succumbed to her illness on late Friday night.
The third covid death in state has been reported three days after the second coronavirus death of a 55-year-old woman, who was declared brought dead by AIIMS on Tuesday. However, Chhattisgarh reported its first covid death of a 35 year old factory worker on May 29.
On Friday, the surge in Covid cases started reporting since Friday evening, when health department first reported 40 cases of migrant labourers from Korba. Gradually, the tally increased with passing of the day hence, medical bulletin confirmed 105 cases till late Friday evening. After which 37 more cases were reported on late Friday night, which pushed the tally to 900.
However, as many as 31 Covid-19 patients were discharged on Friday after recovering from different dedicated hospitals from state.
