RAIPUR: As a precautionary measure to contain spread of coronavirus, the government has prohibited entry of vehicles carrying goods from other states during daytime in urban areas. The vehicles will only be allowed to enter the state between 9.30pm to 6am.
The state transport department has issued guidelines in line with those issued by the Centre. It includes social distancing by drivers and cleaners accompanying vehicles carrying goods.

Transport secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh has directed all district collectors, SPs and district transport officers to ensure that the guidelines are followed. As per the directive, goods carrying vehicles from other states will be allowed to enter urban areas from the halt site only from 9:30pm to 6am. Relaxation will be provided to local small vehicles carrying essential items like vegetables, milk and eggs. It must be ensured that social distancing is being followed while loading and unloading and everyone wears face masks. The transport secretary has also directed that arrangements be made for accommodation of drivers and cleaners at an identified spot like transport city-godown, unloading point or factory site. Even while staying at the designated accommodation, they should follow social distancing guidelines and must wear face masks.
Other permitted general economic activities within under the urban area will be allowed till 4pm. It should be ensured that there is a separate time slot for transport of goods and other economic activities. Similarly, drivers and staff here too will have to strictly avoid any proximity with locals.
The guidelines also state that transport and police personnel should be deployed at the designated spots to ensure compliance of norms. Also, representatives of the local transport associations and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry should be briefed on guidelines. Violation of guidelines may invite strict punitive action.
