Cop held for raping woman in Raipur

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh police have arrested a guard posted at Raipur jail for raping a 27-year-old woman on pretext of marriage since 2017.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Jeevan Kindo, who is posted as a guard at Raipur jail. The guard had got into a relationship with the woman, a neighbour, in 2017.
On pretext of marriage, Kindo allegedly raped her since July 7 that year.The woman stated in her FIR that the accused had then started avoiding her and refused to marry her. He also warned her of dire consequences if she revealed of the incidents to anyone.
When the woman realized that Kindo had made false promises of marriage, she decided to register an FIR. Sources informed that the survivor had earlier tried to lodge her complaint to jail authorities, but no action was taken in the matter.
Later, the woman lodged a complaint against Kindo at a local police station in Raipur after which the police took action.
