In public notice, steno asked to report for duty
RAIPUR: State government has on Wednesday published notices in local newspapers directing Rekha Nair, steno of the suspended IPS officer, Mukesh Gupta, to immediately report on duty. Nair is wanted in a disproportionate asset case and has gone on long leave.
The public notice was published after Nair refused to acknowledge the notices sent by the Chhattisgarh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) asking her to appear before it in person.

The notice follows recent raids on the residence and other premises of Nair by the EOW which unearthed disproportionate assets owned by her in Chhattisgarh and in her native sttae of Kerala.
This comes after the EOW had lodged an FIR against her, on March 1, over disproportionate and undeclared assets.
Officials said, Nair had applied for a 700-day leave - from December 2018 to December 2020 - which was cancelled, but still she did not return to work or report about her whereabouts. Rekha Nair had worked as a stenographer for IPS officer Gupta, when he was the chief of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and EOW.
Gupta was recently suspended after an FIR was lodged against him under Sections of criminal offences, including using forged documents as genuine, criminal conspiracy, and under provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act. An EOW official said, Nayar's disproportionate assets include land worth Rs23,74,100 in Aarang district, assets in Raipur's private residential societies worth lakhs. There were many properties found under the name of her parents, in addition to insurance policies worth Rs8.5 lakh. There were also record of several bank transactions made from her account to her parents' account, between 2011 and 2019 - amounting to over Rs one crore. Investigation is underway to find out the total amount of disproportionate assets in her name.
