Lok Sabha elections: Congress second list for in Chhattisgarh declared

RAIPUR: Congress declared the names of four Lok Sabha candidates for Raipur, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund respectively late on Friday night.
The central election committee of the party released the names of Pramod Dubey from Raipur, Atal Shrivastav from Bilaspur, Bhola Ram Sahu from Rajnandgaon and Dhanendra Sahu from Mahasamund. The candidates for the remaining two Lok Sabha constituencies - Korba and Durg is yet to be declared.

Earlier this week, Congress named the list of candidates for five Lok Sabha seats.
Raipur city mayor Dubey will be contesting from the Raipur seat.
The party has given a chance to four of its sitting MLAs to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The list includes Mahasamund candidate Sahu, tribal leader and Premnagar MLA Khelsai Singh from Surguja Lok Sabha seat, another tribal leader and Chitrakot (Bastar) legislator Deepak Baij from Bastar Lok Sabha constituency and Dharamjaigarh MLA Laljeet Singh Rathiya fielded from Raigarh Lok Sabha seat.
Congress has decided to give tickets to five backward class candidates, two from the Sahu samaj, one from Kurmi samaj, one from Mahant community and one each from Brahmin and general category. The two Sahu samaj candidates have been selected from Mahasamund and Rajnanadgaon constituencies, one Brahmin candidate from Raipur and one general category candidate from Bilaspur constituency.
The names of candidates from Durg and Korba is yet to be finalized but as per political inputs, speculations are rife that Congress may give ticket to a Kurmi candidate from Durg constituency.
