Man booked for raping 16-year-old girl in Raipur

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh police booked a youth for allegedly raping a 16-year-old minor girl on pretext of marriage in Raipur. Consequently, the girl got pregnant.
According to police, the accused identified as Jeet Devnath, hailing from Kanker district, allegedly raped a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Raipur.
Initial investigation revealed that after befriending the 11th class girl, the accused took her to an isolated place on Airport Road under Mana police station and sexually exploited her.

The incident took place between February and March this year. Lately, when the rape survivor was detected pregnant, her parents lodged a complaint with Mana police station.
On victim's complaint, police registered an offence against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act. Further investigation is under way.
