RAIPUR: A troop of monkeys discovered ganja being smuggled in a truck when they swarmed it to feast on mangoes that were used to hide the contraband.
On Monday, police were called to Chirmiri town in Koriya, where monkeys were swarming over an abandoned truck full of mangoes. Apparently, it had broken down near Gelhapani at night and the driver had fled.
The monkeys feasted on the mangoes and by the time police arrived they had eaten enough to reveal what was hidden under them - sacks containing Rs 70 lakh worth of ganja.
The truck, which has Andhra Pradesh registration plates, has been impounded. It was carrying 800kg of ganja.
