Raipur: Home delivered, free-of-cost saplings are just a call away

Now, you can make a call and get saplings delivered to your doorstep free-of-cost. To encourage plantation in the city, the state launched a new project - Hariyali Prasar Vahan - under which a wing of Raipur division of forest department will deliver saplings of their choice to the residents.

RAIPUR: Now, you can make a call and get saplings delivered to your doorstep free-of-cost. To encourage plantation in the city, the state launched a new project - Hariyali Prasar Vahan - under which a wing of Raipur division of forest department will deliver saplings of their choice to the residents.
State forest minister Mohammad Akbar flagged off the scheme from Indira Nukunj Mana Nursery on Friday.
Akbar said, this scheme will be implemented in all the districts soon. For this, a vehicle will be provided to the district, which can be used to deliver the saplings.
He said, "The best way to create a pollution-free environment is to plant trees. It is the need of the hour. We should plant shady and fruit-bearing trees and also conserve them."
A forest official said, "To get saplings in Raipur, citizens can contact +917587011195. The plantation is underway across the state as per the targets for this year. Free saplings are being provided from Indira Nikunj Mana Nursery under the scheme. Variety of saplings are available at the nursery, including fruit-bearing trees like amla, papaya, lemon, jamun, mango, and other species like karanj, arjun, neem, mahua and bamboo."
Principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF) Rakesh Chaturvedi and chief conservator of forests Raipur circle Sanjita Gupta along with other senior department officials were present on the occasion.
