Raipur opts for chill house parties on chilly winter nights
From crackling bonfire sessions, to musical nights and barbeque cookouts, winter house parties are fast catching up in the city, as they allow youngsters to enjoy the cold weather while being easy on their wallets.
MBA student Anita Pardeshi, who recently hosted a bonfire party at her home, shares, “I wanted to do something exciting without having to burn a hole in my pocket.
So, I thought of organising a bonfire and barbecue party on my terrace. To make it a relaxing experience for the guests, I rolled out a mattress with cushions and blankets. There was soothing music in the backdrop, with hot cuppas and chicken wings on the grill, making it the perfect party for this season.”
Such parties have also given the revellers a chance to keep their no extra calories, no drinking’ resolutions. Samina Jamil, who is trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, says, “Parties organised at fancy restaurants serve greasy food to the guests, but that is not the case at these bonfire parties, where one can bring healthy food and grilled vegetables, and club them with their favourite drinks.”
For those who are from out of town and currently studying in Raipur, bonfire parties are a great way to spend some quality time with classmate before vacations.
Rajesh Joshi, a BBA student, recently hosted a bonfire party that turned into a sleepover. “My hostel friends were heading to their respective hometowns for New Year vacation and a pre-get-together was a must for us. I asked them to put on their best pyjamas and come over for the bonfire night. Soulful conversations were the highlight of the night, and we got to really bond with each other.”
Faizan Khan, a college student, talks about the other perks of such parties. “At a rooftop barbeque party, we don't need to worry about driving back home from a particular venue while we're exhausted or even passing-out, for that matter. The hosts simply roll out extra mattresses and blankets in their hallways. Moreover, one need not worry about putting in extra hours to get ready. A simple sweater/jacket to keep you warm should suffice,” says Faizan.
