RAIPUR : Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress president Bhupesh Baghel is appearing in a local court after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the fake sex CD case purportedly involving a minister in the Raman Singh government, issued a notice to him asking him to appear before the court.
State Congress spokesman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi told TOI that CBI had issued a notice to the state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel, asking him to appear before the court.
He said the CBI may file the charge-sheet today against Baghel and others, whom the CBI had named in the FIR in connection with the sex CD case.
Trivedi said the CBI, which has been probing case, suddenly woke up and swung into action after the state Congress staged a black flag demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Janjgir on September 22 in protest against the police storming Congress Bhawan and beating up Congress workers inside the party office.
Baghel, who was his way to Jagdalpur to attend the jungle satyagraha by the tribals for their rights on jal, jungle and jameen, cancelled his visit to Bastar and returned to the state capital to attend the court as per the CBI directions. Senior Congress leaders assembled near the statue of Baba sahib Ambedkar before Baghel, accompanied by party leaders, proceeded to the court premises.
A sex CD, purportedly showing state PWD minister Rajesh Munat in a compromising position had surfaced, in October last year. State police in a swift action picked up a journalist Vinod Verma and allegedly seized copies of sleaze CD. Subsequently, the Rajesh Munat and the state BJP lodged a complaint with the local police alleging that the sex CD was fabricated through morphing. Later, the state government handed over the case to the CBI.
