Two more coronavirus positive cases reported in Chhattisgarh taking total number to 3 in state

RAIPUR: A man and woman from Rajnandgaon and Raipur in Chhattisgarh have been tested positive, taking the total number of coronavirus (CoVID-19) patients to 3 in the state.
Right after the confirmation of two more patients, the state government on Wednesday initiated an intense surveillance- under which 50 houses of the people who have recently returned from earmarked CoVID-19 affected countries will be monitored strictly.
In intense surveillance, the high risk people of the area suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure will be monitored closely by health officials.
Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday has confirmed two new CoVID-19 patients of Raipur and Rajnandgaon.
As per health department officials, as of now both the patients are in first stage called of mild category of CoVID-19 and were already in home isolation since they returned from abroad roughly after March 14.
During home isolation, when the patients experienced symptoms of sore throat and fever their samples were sent for testing in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Tuesday and were confirmed positive on Wednesday evening. Their families, domestic helpers and neighbors have been taken into home isolation.
“The Rajnandgaon based positive case is a 23 year old man, who has recently travelled from Thailand and was already in home isolation. While the Raipur based 24 year old positive case of a woman has recently travelled from
United Kingdom,” said state health officials.
The woman was brought by health officials to AIIMS isolation centre on Wednesday late evening and the man in Rajnandgaon will be kept in Rajnandgaon Medical College’s isolation ward for the treatment.
The first case of 23-year-old coronavirus patient in AIIMS is doing speedy recovery and her family has been tested negative of CoVID-19, said AIIMS doctors.
As per State Health Department, there are nearly 1214 people in home isolation out of which nearly 300 have cleared their home isolation tests and does not developed any CoVID virus symptoms. Since the launch of the dedicated lab for CoVID-19 sample testing in AIIMS in past 19 days nearly 220 samples have been tested so far.
