Girls fall unconscious after MR vaccination in Wadhwan
Of 50 schoolgirls, who were administered MR vaccination, five fell unconscious
RAJKOT: Five girls in the age group of 10 and 13 years were rendered unconscious after being administered with measles-rubella (MR) vaccination in government primary school at Shiyani ni Pol area in Wadhwan town of Surendranagar district on Thursday morning.
Suhana Qureshi, Hiral Solanki, Divya Joshi, Sonal Makwana and Isha Chawda were admitted to Surendranagar Gandhi Hospital after they fell unconscious.

School principal Mahesh Kanani said, “About 45 to 50 girls were administered with MR vaccination. However, only those girls whose physical condition was weak suffered. Had there been anything wrong with the vaccine, all the girls would have met with the similar fate.” Apart from the five girls, 20 other girls also suffered nausea after they were vaccinated. The parents of the girls rushed to the school and created a ruckus to register their protest.
Fearing mob attack, the primary health centre officials, who had administered the vaccines, fled from the spot and the school administration closed the school.tnn
