In Gujarat, std X girl strangles 3-year-old cousin

RAJKOT: Incensed by his mischief, a 14-year-old girl allegedly strangulated to death her three-year-old cousin brother in Morbi town on Sunday evening.
The boy Nitya, son of ceramic trader Rajesh Dadhaniya, was found unconscious in a mysterious condition on the terrace of their house in Shivalaya Apartment. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead on admission.The family suspected some foul play, but they never imagined that his cousin sister could have committed the crime.
On Monday, forensic postmortem confirmed that Nitya had been strangled to death.
According to police, Nitya was playing on the terrace and the girl was chopping vegetables. “Nitya tried to snatch the knife from her hand and in the process, she got a a slight cut in the palm. The girl got so enraged that she strangulated him,” said RK Zala, inspector, Morbi B-division police station.
After sometime, when Nitya’s five-year-old sister Masoom went to the terrace, she saw him lying conscious and frothing from the mouth. She immediately informed her mother Jignasa who rushed Nitya to the hospital.
“The doctors at the civil hospital found injury marks on Nitya’s throat and suggested forensic postmortem which confirmed Nitya’s death to have been caused by strangulation,” added Zala.
In the night, when Rajesh inquired with the girl as to what had happened, she confessed to killing him.
The girl is the daughter of Rajesh’s elder sister who lives in Surat. She had come to Morbi from Surat for studies and was living with Dadhaniya family. The girl used to study in class X in a private school.
