RANCHI: Police on Sunday found about 150kg of meat, suspected to be beef, from a house at Hurhuri village near Ranchi and arrested three people from the spot. Police have sent samples of the seized meat to a forensic laboratory for testing.
Acting on a tip off, police raided the house of Sherajul Haque and found heaps of cattle meat on the floor. Sources said Haque was allegedly running a slaughterhouse from his house.

The arrested people were identified as Minhaz Akhtar, Rehan Ansari (both of them residents of Hurhuri) and Md Khaleef Ansari, a resident of Kathitand, while they were packing the meat into small packets. "Seven others, including Haque and his son Faiyyaz Haque, fled as soon as they came to know about the raid," Ratu police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Rai said.
