RANCHI: Four police officers were on Wednesday sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for the custodial death of a person at Panki police station in Palmau district in 1998. Special CBI court judge
A K Mishra also directed for the payment of relief of Rs 10 lakh to the victim's kin.
The case was registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code including 304 and 34.

The convicted officers are the then DSP (headquarter) D N Rajak, the then inspector of
Daltonganj Devilal Prasad, the then Panki officer in-charge Surindra Prasad and the then sub-inspector
Rukshar Ahmad posted at the SP office at the time of incident. One of the accused officers died during course of trial.
